Fibroblast into Astrocyte Transdifferentiation

Transdifferentiation of fibroblasts into astrocytes through transfection of transcription factors by liposomal and polymeric DNA-carrier materials.

The aim is to generate stable astrocytes through expression of exogenous transcription factors in fibroblasts, and to determine which DNA-carrier material (e.g. polymers, liposomes, viruses) is most efficient in establishing transdifferentiation. Techniques include: Cell culture, transfection, transduction, PCR, immunostaining, cloning, bacterial culture, gel electrophoresis.
